Question by James: What’s a decent paintball gun?

Ion or Ion XE ($ 160-250ish), G3 ($ 300), SLG ($ 300 for basic). But all those require hpa, and hpa tanks are $ 40-200+. Not to mention a good hopper, $ 45-150.

Is the $ 300 for gun only or will that need to buy everything (tank, gun, hopper… you get a mask & pack yet?)?

What do you think? Answer below!

If you are going to play woodsball, then i would recommend a tippmann. probably an A-5 or X7

The Tippmann A-5 is probably the best gun to start out with, but don’t be fooled; it is quite competitve right out of the box, but it also is the single best gun for modifications, which means the gun will grow with you as you get better. You should be able to find one on Ebay or Craigslist for around $ 100-$ 150 with a response trigger. If you want one with the e-grip (allow multiple firing modes) you’re looking at an additional $ 25-$ 75.

The A-5′s come with a cyclone feed system that makes chopping balls nearly impossible and allows you to fire up to 20 balls per second without the assistance of an electronic hopper.

The stock barrel is okay, but you can go to ebay and find whatever barrel length, style, brand, etc. you want for fairly cheap. I bought my 21″ one piece barrel for $ 25.

The Tippmann line of paintball guns is synonymous with low maintenance. They are durable, require very little maintenance and can be field stripped without the use of tools. You can’t ask for a more reliable marker.

This gun is perfect for woodsball and is competitve in recreational speedball and indoor fields. If you’re looking for a gun that will allow you to hang with the big dogs in the competitve realm, you’re going to have to mod the heck out of an ION or buy a more competitve model, both of which will cost you considerably more money.

    Hope this helps.
